Willliam Pope's Abbey.

William Pope, nephew of Sir Thomas, began work on the site of the former priory near the turn of the 17th century. His house survives today as the center section of the present building. The exact construction dates of the manor are unknown. Work could have begun very late in the 16th century, or after Wiliam Pope became a Knight of the Bath in 1603, or after he was created baronet in 1611. The date 1618 appears on the mount to the elk antlers in the Great Hall. In 1665 the house was assessed for tax on its thirty-four hearths.

The "North side of the Abbey" scene connects to scene 2: "Approaching the Abbey Main Entrance," and scene C: "Preview of the Abbey Lakes and Grounds."
